Colchester boss Geraint Williams admits Tuesday's home clash with Sheffield Wednesday is make-or-break time for his struggling side.Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace left the Us rooted to the foot of the Championship and nine points adrift of safety.
But Colchester begin a run of three straight home games when fellow strugglers Wednesday arrive at Layer Road, followed by Cardiff and Hull, to offer a smattering of hope that they can still pull off a great escape.
"Tuesday is now the biggest game of the season, in fact you could say our season hinges on it," said Williams.
"We've got to go out with the same attitude as when we beat Preston at home, we need the fans filling up Layer Road and creating a great atmosphere, and we've got to turn up and put in a performance and come out with three points. Then we have two more home games after that.
"We've got a mountain to climb but Tuesday will define our season. We've got to win on Tuesday and then move on to the next two games. We've proved we can win games, but it's getting late in the day now."
