Davies rues missed Blues chances

Mon 10 Mar, 01:30 PM

Chester caretaker manager Simon Davies felt his side's profligacy proved costly during their 2-0 defeat against derby rivals Wrexham.Former City goalkeeper Gavin Ward was in inspired form on his first return to the club he left in January and pulled off a string of match-winning saves.

Ward thwarted Kevin Ellison on several occasions as goals from Paul Hall and Michael Proctor proved crucial.

Defeat left the Blues 10 points above the relagation places, and Davies said: "We had six or seven chances and scored none and they had two or three and scored from those.

"I felt we had a real go but we shut off on two occasions when we thought we had scored and they went up the other end and scored twice."

He added: "In the two games that I've been in charge I've felt we have to be cuter in front of goal and need to get that bit of luck. The three goals that we've conceded in the last two games have been due to us switching off so we've got to put that right."
