McMahon considers Shrews changes

Mon 10 Mar, 09:00 PM

Shrewsbury caretaker manager John McMahon is considering a change of shape when his side host Darlington at New Meadow on Tuesday evening.McMahon has no suspension or injury worries to contend with following Saturday's 1-1 draw with Rotherham as his side come up against another League Two promotion contender.

In his first game in charge, McMahon elected to play a 4-3-3 formation, but the front three of Guy Madjo, Dave Hibbert and James Constable failed to click so Chris Humphrey and Marc Pugh would be the most likely candidates to step into the side if McMahon chooses to change formation.

Colin Murdock and Hibbert both returned to the starting line-up at the weekend and will hope to have done enough to retain their places.

Striker Andy Cooke made his first appearance since recovering from a leg injury as a second-half substitute against the Millers and could be promoted to the starting line-up.

The managerless Shrews are desperately in need of a win having taken just seven points from their last 13 matches.
