Trio doubtful for Ipswich clash

Mon 10 Mar, 06:30 PM

Marciano Van Homoet, Martin Devaney and Dennis Souza are all doubtful for Barnsley's home clash with Ipswich on Tuesday night.Dutch left-back Van Homoet is struggling with an ankle injury, winger Martin Devaney has a broken nose and Brazilian defender Souza has a tight hamstring.

All three players sustained their respective injuries in the Tykes' FA Cup win over Chelsea on Saturday and manager Simon Davey will monitor their progress.

Lewin Nyatanga, cup-tied for the FA Cup quarter-final, could step in if Souza fails to make it, while Sam Togwell is a likely replacement for Devaney, who he replaced in the second half on Saturday.

Davey could be tempted to make further changes after revealing some of his players were mentally and physically jaded following the Tykes' cup heroics.

The Barnsley boss is anxious his side secure their first league win in six matches as they are currently just four points clear of the drop zone.
