Premier League - Six months out for Behrami

Eurosport - Tue, 10 Mar 22:44:00 2009

West Ham have confirmed that Switzerland midfielder Valon Behrami will be out for six months after surgery on a serious knee injury.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 Premier League West Ham West Ham-Man City Behrami - 0

The former Lazio winger, 23, was already expected to miss the remainder of the season after he was sent for an operation in Italy following the defeat against Manchester City at the beginning of March.

The keyhole procedure on an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his left knee means he is likely to miss the start of next season.

"Valon is due back in London next week, where he will begin his rehabilitation with the club's medical staff as soon as possible," the East London club said.

Luis Boa Morte is, however, back in full training after a groin injury while Kieron Dyer is now taking part in sessions with the rest of the squad after overcoming his calf trouble.

James Collins (hamstring) and Diego Tristan (groin) are both now running and are thought to be close to joining full training.

  5. justin22seiko - I think West Ham have just brought the player on better than Lazio.. there will be no Italian teams winning the Champs League this year.. EPL is much stronger than Seria A...... Roma are1 down to Arsenal, Juve 1 down to Chelsea, and Man Utd will beat Inter Milan at home easily..(Not to Mention Liverpool beating Real at Bernabeau in Spain).. only other top Euro club is Barce and they are now playing bad.. West Ham sit 7th in a league with that quality... Lazio would be fighting relegation.

He is still young so hopefully he mends quickly and puts on the claret and blue very soon. Next season we should be stronger with Deano,Collins, Dyer and Gabbidon back. UP THE HAMMERS
