Walsall have confirmed that Paul Boertien has suffered a broken toe but expect the defender to be back in action before the end of the season. The 29-year-old sustained the injury against Southend at the weekend, and a scan on Wednesday confirmed the break.
Boertien is set for a follow-up scan next week, but club physio Jon Whitney does not expect the full-back to be on the sidelines for long.
"There are no long-term concerns with the injury and hopefully he will be okay to resume full training next week and be involved in the final few games of the season," Whitney told the club's official website.
"Paul has been taking part in a number of hydro-sessions such as swimming in order to keep him ticking over.
"He has also been working on the exercise bike and has been doing a lot of rowing."
