Boss: We have a great chance

Thu 10 Apr, 06:45 PM

Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has urged his players to realise the "dream" of returning to the second tier of English football.Martinez's men could be promoted back to the Championship after a 24-year exile as early as Friday night should Doncaster lose against Swindon.

If Rovers claim a point or more, however, then a Swansea win at Priestfield would still spark a promotion party for all concerned with the Swans.

But Martinez is well aware the Gills will be no pushover, saying: "It's going to be difficult because Gillingham have put a good run of results together that gives them a great chance of getting out of trouble.

"But we've put ourselves in a great position where our fate lies in our own hands. We've got to make sure our preparation is right because not only have we been working hard for 10 months, but we've been waiting 24 years to get back in the second tier.

"We are now in a position to achieve that dream and repay those fans who have remained loyal to us."
