Rangers travel to Lisbon to face Sporting in the second leg of their UEFA Cup quarter-final with the score poised at 0-0 following last week's first leg at Ibrox.

FOOTBALL 2007-2008 Scottish Premier League Rangers Carlos Cuellar - 0

Rangers centre-half Carlos Cuellar had been a doubt for the game in Lisbon after he contracted a virus over the weekend, but the 26-year-old was fit enough to fly to Portugal with the rest of the squad and is likely to feature.

"He was struggling at the weekend but he is a lot better now," Rangers assistant manager McCoist said.

"He is a big player for us and hopefully he will be a big player again on Thursday night."

Striker Daniel Cousin could also make the team after recovering from a broken jaw.

"He has certainly got a chance," McCoist added.

"The surgeon who performed the operation looked him over at the weekend and gave him the go-ahead, so he is fit to play."

For Sporting, defender Anderson Polga will miss out with a thigh injury.

The Brazilian was forced off during Sporting's 2-0 win over Braga on Sunday and team officials say he will not make a recovery in time for Thursday's clash in Lisbon.

"Polga has probably torn a muscle in his right thigh," Sporting medical director Jose Gomes Pereira said.

"He will undergo tests in the next 48 hours to evaluate the problem and to determine how long he will be out, but he is definitely out of the Rangers game."

The 29-year-old is now likely to be replaced by his compatriot Gladstone in the centre of defence alongside Tonel.
