Baggies boss has eye for a bargain

Sat 10 May, 01:30 PM

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray does not believe the Baggies will have to spend big to get quality signings for next season.Mowbray cited the example of Robert Koren, who joined the club on a Bosman from Lillestrom 16 months ago, as an example with the midfielder scoring 10 goals in 46 appearances this term.

"Don't be surprised this summer if there are a few pretty low-cost signings where we buy the quality and the talent, " he told the club's official website.

"We have seen examples like Robert Koren and Shelton Martis, who have contributed this season.

"There might be players in whom we recognise and like the talent but they cost practically nothing.

"Sometimes the assumption is that we are going to go out and spend millions on every player to improve us. I don't believe we have always got to do that"
