Walsall youngster Richard Davies hopes that signing his first professional contract will mark the start of an exciting future in football. The 17-year-old midfielder joined full-back Hassan Bacchus in receiving an offer after he captained the youth team to the Puma Youth Alliance North-West Conference title this season.
"There's a long way to go and I know that but, hopefully, this is the start for me," he told the club's official website.
"Like most kids I've always wanted to be a footballer. There's always a thought in the back of your mind that you won't make it so I'm really, really pleased.
"I'm just happy to be given this chance at Walsall and now I want to make the most of the opportunity."
