Douglas hoping for play-off success

Sat 10 May, 03:45 PM

Leeds United midfielder Jonathan Douglas is hoping his side can complete their remarkable season with a victory in the play-off final. The 26-year-old believes the Whites have proved their quality by overcoming a 15-point deduction to secure a place in the play-offs

but wants to see them make their efforts count by overcoming Carlisle in the semi-finals and securing promotion at Wembley.

"We knew with the 15 points taken away we had a massive hill to climb. We have climbed it but we are not at the top yet," he told the Yorkshire Post. "Hopefully on May 25 (the day of the League One final) we will have reached the peak.

"I have been here three years and seen three or four managers and about 25-30 players. But now we have a settled squad and we are enjoying playing together, as the results prove. It has been an emotional rollercoaster.

"But we have proved this season what we are capable of even though it is not finished yet."
