Sat 10 May, 01:30 PM

Rochdale manager Keith Hill has turned up the heat on Darlington by suggesting Dave Penney's men have underachieved during this season. The League Two rivals meet in Saturday's play-off semi-final, first leg with Hill admitting he is surprised by Penney's failure to guide the Quakers to automatic promotion.

Hill, who steered Dale to fifth place on a shoestring budget, said: "I expected them to finish in the top three so perhaps they have underachieved."

"But we are capable of beating anyone, especially if you look at the fact that we have beaten the champions MK Dons home and away, the only team do that this season.

"My players want to achieve and want to go to Wembley."
