Championship - Coyle wants Burnley improvement

Eurosport - Sun, 10 May 13:00:00 2009

Owen Coyle believes Burnley must still improve if they are to progress to the Championship play-off final at Wembley on May 25.

Graham Alexander sent Turf Moor wild with an 84th-minute winner from the penalty spot to hand the Clarets a precious 1-0 advantage in the first leg of their semi-final against Reading.

But Coyle said: "There's still a lot to play for, there's no doubt about that. The game wasn't really what I had anticipated in terms of two good football teams getting the ball down and playing."

He added: "I thought Reading came with a gameplan to stifle our threat and all credit to them. They were relatively successful in doing it, but Brian has also made an outstanding save and Martin Paterson has kicked one off the line.

"I can't ask any more of the players - the courage, the desire and the hunger they have.

"We know we have to play better than that and that's what we'll look to do."

Keep BURNLEY out of the premiership, small minded, small club, moronic fans and pathetic following.. They live and behave as they did in the 1970/80's and evan more so would they measure up to the Elf & Safety requirements of the modern game. Don't think so.
