Premier League - Tevez: 'Goodbye United'

Eurosport - Sun, 10 May 18:00:00 2009

Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez said he expects to leave the club at the end of the season because he is not wanted at Old Trafford.

FOOTBALL 2008-2009 Premier League Manchester United Tevez - 0

The Argentine's loan period expires at the end of the campaign and the striker has grown frustrated at starting many games on the substitutes' bench.

"I don't think I will be a Manchester United player next season," Tevez told the News of the World.

"I do not feel wanted. I feel bad over my situation. I do, but it's very, very difficult to stay any longer. I guess what I'm saying is goodbye."

Tevez, who joined United from West Ham in 2007, scored 19 goals in 39 appearances for United as they won the Premier League and Champions League last season.

Despite making 32 appearances and netting 13 times so far in this campaign, Tevez said United had made no offer to make his loan deal permanent.

"I have done everything I possibly can but they have never made me an offer or given me a contract so I have to leave," he added.

"I don't think I deserve to be in this position but you realise if your time is up you have to go.

"The fans treat me like family, but United have not signed me so they do not respect me as a footballer."

Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian's company MSI own Tevez's registration.

  2. TEVEZ i good no doubt. But managing and coaching of Man U recently has not been easy when it comes to player's selection. We should learn to accept that Tevez is not in a club where his presence is indispensable.Let him take possible alternative to get his satisfaction.

  3. Now berba great skill and touch BUT gets bored and cant be asked to run, track back or tackle....get off ya back side and man u fans might take to you.

Tevez, why use the papers to moan about playing, you know the answer the manager told ya behind a closed office door... take it or leave it....stop using the press to bump up ya sales figure...

  4. TEVES IS HOT, and also playing illegally in this country. Rules that forced West Ham to court ,and subsequent fine, appear to have been forgotten because Man united are not having any problems with the "THIRD PARTY OWNERSHIP" problems......

THE FA ARE IN MAN UNITED'S POCKET..........

  6. manchester united think they have enough players, i think that is why they treating tevez this way, if they dont value him then i think he have to leave for clubs that know his worth, you dont know the value of what you have untill you lose it.
tevez presence has been wounderful at manchester united.
    i they still need him

  7. Here we go again:

The Tevez affair has been on the back burner for a while summers coming and Tevez's agent and owners want to maximise the return from their investment.

They know he's in the shop window right now and at the city - utd game he scored and waved from the window.

Remember Tevez and Mascherano turning up at West Ham in such that even then manager Alan Curbishley couldn't quite explain how they came to be there. Not only that when West Ham were fighting relegation a deal had to be cut to insure that the potential financial bombshell of Tevez and Mascherano ending up in the championship. Protective clauses were used and they were moved on.

The West Ham saga still rumbles.I believe from reading up that a potential take over didn't take place either in 2007 and that left the situation thus, The scousers got the rules changed and Mascherano and United got Tevez on a loan deal. Okay given the relevent success that Tevez has had at united the natural progression would be to sign him. If the reported 30M fee asked for carlos is to be believed given the level of care he recieves and the regular appearences at all levels at united then to a third party this is value for money. The fact is that Tevez has been at United since 2007 and his price should reflect that. Kia Joorabchian's company MSI are holding aces back making sure that Tevez can not leave them on a free in another 2 years or so.

If Fergie is going to spend 30M then he's going to make sure he gets value for money and if 30M brings Tevez or some other quality star then trust in his judgement must be given.

I see some of the insane comments about Alex Ferguson on the comments pages day after day truth is 1986 - Incumbent at the wheel of one of the worlds most famous succesful football clubs says it all really he has his faults and legitimate critics but his success has been in his strengh to lead and take the criticism on the chin but overall to make the best

  8. It seems to me that Tevez is a victim of the machinations of talent agents. I understand that the agents want up to 30 million pounds for his signature. Is he worth that to Man Utd? Can't they sign two or three other players for that sum in the light of their immediate and long term player requirements? In the end, Tevez's agents may take less than 50% of that sum from a smaller club. I feel sorry for him given his work rate as a player. Kaybee, Nigeria

  9. please sir keep tevez .he is one player who gives his heart out everytime he plays .berba is a class act .keep him also .

  10. If Tevez does not stay at Old Trafford it will be because of two reasons..1) Over inflated price from his agent...2) He wants to start every game.....neither of these two factors will apply to him staying. Of course there are clubs in the Prem who will pay the asking price; Man City, Chelsea maybe Liverpool. How many of these clubs will he start all games, only one, Man City and they will win nothing again; does he want to play for a team that we all know will win nothing? I do not think so!!!! Rafa is the king of rotational football, so no chance of starting every game there. That leaves Chelsea; if they get rid of Drogba the cry baby and biggest ranting cheat in world football then maybe he will start all games; having said that, Tevez is not an on your own up front striker, so i'm not so sure that he will fit the void; Chelsea will need a front man and that may affect the numbers of games Tevez will start. There are no other teams in the prem that could afford the asking price so the circus will then move to Spain or Italy........ After all this, i think Utd, teh agent and Tevez will find a working solution to keep him at the club where he should be......

we thought we should never have let beckham, van nistlerooy and jaap stam go thinking they would be irriplacable but fergie seems to have a 6th sense when it comes down to uniteds best interest and that says it all
