Portsmouth manager Paul Hart refused to condemn goalkeeper David James for his error of judgment in the 2-0 defeat at Blackburn.

England stopper James failed to deal with a challenge from Chris Samba following a cross from Stephen Warnock and the ball broke to Morten Gamst Pedersen, who forced it home.

Hart said: "These things happen. You look at the performances he has put in in the last two and a half months - they have been unbelievable."
