Hart: We still need points

Sun 10 May, 11:28 AM

Portsmouth manager Paul Hart wants more points on the board as soon as possible to ease any lingering fears of relegation.

Pompey have lost the winning habit and substitute John Utaka missed a penalty in the second half of Saturday`s 2-0 defeat at Blackburn.

Hart said: "It was certainly our worst performance since February. We`ve been creating a lot of chances recently but not finishing them off.

"It was a timely reminder in this division you cannot take your foot off the pedal. We want to be mathematically safe as soon as possible."

  2. In reply to Tasdeon - I agree Utaka is a waste of space and needs to go. 4-4-2 has always been our best formation, and i'm surprised Paul Hart hasn't given Nugent or Gekas a chance to play alongside Crouchy. I don't think we need a new manager next season. Paul Hart was brought in to stop us going down, so sometimes the pretty football has to be sacrificed. He has made some mistakes in team selection and formation,i agree, but, apart from the debacle against Blackburn, we have looked quite solid at the back. I think Brian Kidd has made a huge difference as well, so i would like to see him stay as well. Come on Pompey, lets make sure of safety this weekend. Roll your sleeves up and fight for your wages!

  3. John Utaka plainly needs to go. He is possibly the worst player ever to pull on a Pompey shirt in recent years. He reminds me a lot of Lua Lua, lazy, sulky and thick.

  4. I believe Paul Hart and Brian Kidd are a good combination and are doing the best they can but if the players under perform and proceed to frustrate the managers intentions by playing like amatuers (or silly buggers). The Fratton Park performances this year in front of their own passionate fans have been a big big letdown. Only 2 games left to get it right. Stay Up Pompey.

  5. Pompey were simply woeful on Saturday. Looks like they could'nt score even if they had the ball on the opposition's goal line they would somehow manage to miss it. Other teams are scoring from free kicks 20 to 35 yards out and we cant even convert a penalty. Tense times ahead. Time for the players to stand up and be counted.
