Tottenham defender Ledley King has apologised to manager Harry Redknapp following his arrest for an alleged assault outside a London nightclub
Having been bailed after spending several hours in police custody, King issued the following statement on the club's website: "I sincerely regret that a night out with friends went too far. I have apologised to Harry and I fully appreciate that, as a professional footballer, I have a duty to behave in a responsible manner."
He added: "I am assisting the police with their enquiries. Anyone who knows me, knows that much of what has been suggested is totally out of character.
"I am keen to resolve this as soon as possible and concentrate on my football. I shall be putting my all into ensuring I give of my best for the remaining fixtures."

On the football pitch, Ledley is both a great player and a gentleman. I hope he break with any bad off-field habits quickly. He is one of Tottenham Hotspur's greats (especially considering his physical problems.
Oh Ledley, never mind. I really appreciate your honesty to us, the fans. It can't be easy being in the limelight all the time
In the past couple of years there have been numerous pictures in the press of King falling out of clubs worse for wear! Not what you'd expect of an elite athlete, can't be doing his knee any favours either!!
garybillingham...........I guess your an angel then?
Sometimes its hard to not be human, but yet another footballer in the limelight lets down everyone
