Stewart experience vital

Exeter boss Paul Tisdale believes striker Marcus Stewart will be an invaluable asset as his side prepare for life in League One.

The 36-year-old has scored 249 goals in over 700 games in his senior career and this week agreed a new one-year contract with the Grecians.

And Tisdale, whose side clinched automatic promotion this season, told the Express & Echo: "He`s decided to carry on playing which is great news. It gives us that continuity again. Marcus is a very experienced player who only came out of League One a season ago."

He added: "So it will be really useful to have him around. He fits in with the environment and he is extremely serious about his football.

"He is a very good influence on some of the younger players and he is an influential player on the pitch. I am delighted that he is staying.

"He wants to coach as well. He has been doing some coaching at our centre of excellence in the evenings and really helping with the young lads."
