Lincoln City's assistant manager Iffy Onuora senses "exciting times ahead" after signing his new contract with the League Two club.Onuora, 40, the former Huddersfield, Mansfield and Gillingham striker, signed a new one-year deal last week. He was placed in charge of the first team in March while boss Peter Jackson underwent treatment for throat cancer.

Onuora said: "I've settled in really well here and I'm delighted to have signed a new deal. It's very much a family club but it's a club that has high aspirations and that's what made my decision simple.

"I can really sense exciting times ahead. We finished strongly last season and can only get better.

"With some excellent youngsters already at the club, we've now got our eyes on a number of excellent players who will contribute towards achieving our aim of promotion.

"Just like the club, both the gaffer and I are ambitious and we want our players to have the same mentality."
