Strikers Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan want to stay at Atletico Madrid despite interest from Barcelona and Chelsea, according to sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch.

Uruguayan Forlan (pictured right), La Liga top scorer last season, has been linked by the Spanish media with champions Barcelona.

The English press reported that Chelsea are trying to sign Argentine Aguero, pictured left.

However, Garcia Pitarch said he had spoken to the pair, as well as captain Maxi Rodriguez and winger Simao Sabrosa, and all four indicated they had no desire to leave.

"They have a very strong commitment to the club," Garcia Pitarch said on Atletico's website

Media reports in England claimed that Chelsea made an offer of around £42 million for Aguero.

The 21-year-old, who scored 17 goals last season to help Atletico claim a place in the Champions League, is one of the hottest properties in European football.

He said earlier this month that he wanted to stay in the Spanish capital but urged Atletico's owners to invest in player reinforcement to ensure the club were capable of making an impact among Europe's elite, suggesting he could be attracted by a switch to a club challenging for major honours every season.
