Reading director of football Nick Hammond has confirmed that new manager Brendan Rodgers will have to sell before he can buy this summer.
Rodgers left Watford to take over at the Madejski Stadium and may have been looking forward to escaping the cash-strapped Hornets, but he will still have to watch the bottom line at his new club.
Kevin Doyle and Stephen Hunt are both expected to leave to return to the Premier League this summer, with Hunt having already expressed his desire to move on, and Hammond insists Rodgers is fully aware of the situation, saying: "It is right to say players will have to be sold."
He added: "The manager is aware of the situation he has come into. If we want to buy players this summer there will have to be trading take place. There is no doubt about that."
