Gudjon Thordarson will use the cash from the sale of Tom Pope to strengthen his Crewe squad.

Alex received around £150,000 when the striker moved to Rotherham last week.

"We got a bit of money for Tom and that gives me the opportunity to restructure my squad. It gives me the freedom to see if I can strengthen," Thordarson told the Crewe Chronicle.

"I am still looking in other areas of the park because we have a lot of forwards.

"I have been speaking to players and some have been ready to sign but I haven't made my mind up on them.

"Nothing has been decided and I have to assess everything from a financial point of view."
