Rochdale full-back Scott Wiseman has signed a new contract with the League Two club.

The defender was initially released at the end of the recent campaign but returned to Spotland on Tuesday to pen a new one-year deal that will kick in on July 1.

He told the club's official website: "It is a massive relief that we have sorted things out. It looked like I was going to be going somewhere else but luckily it has all come together.

"There was no hard feelings when I got released because I knew the reasoning behind it and that at this level you can't really afford to pay two right-backs half decent money, especially nowadays.

"Now that I am back it is absolutely brilliant. Physically I am feeling great. I have been back in the gym for a couple of weeks.

"I was fine after the hernia operation and it was just a case of general fitness keeping me out of the play-off games. Now I can have a couple of weeks off and look forward to cracking on with business as usual and getting promoted."
