Buckley still hopeful over Boulding

Thu 10 Jul, 04:44 PM

Grimsby manager Alan Buckley has refused to accept defeat in the race to sign Mansfield forward Michael Boulding.Buckley last month confirmed his interest in Boulding, who scored 25 goals last season but was unable to stop the Stags from slipping into the Blue Square Premier.

The Mariners boss remains keen on luring the 32-year-old to Blundell Park and is also close to entertaining transfer talks with another unnamed player.

"I'm hoping to speak to a player and we'll see what comes of it," Buckley told the Grimsby Telegraph.

"It may be a bit more drawn out than the others as he is still at a club but I'm not sure they want to keep him. I'll just talk to him about the football side of things and see where we go from there.

"As for Michael [Boulding] - nothing is dead with that. We know what he can do but, at the moment, I have a different type of striker to speak to."
