Silkmen held in pre-season test

Macclesfield were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against neighbours Congleton Town in their first pre-season friendly on Wednesday night.Silkmen boss Keith Alexander fielded a strong side against the North West Counties outfit and they opened the scoring with an early strike from Martin Gritton.

However, Andy Alston replied for Congleton before the break and although Francis Green restored Macclesfield's lead late in the second half, the non-league side equalised in the closing stages through James Morrow.
