Udinese have brushed aside reports linking midfielder Gokhan Inler with a move to Newcastle this summer.The Switzerland international has been in stunning form since moving to Serie A from FC Zurich last summer and his performance at Euro 2008 put a number of European clubs on high alert.

But Udinese general director Pietro Leonardi said: "There is no negotiation with Newcastle. This is an absurd story. I have even heard mention of a figure of five million euros - it's ridiculous.

"Furthermore the player's wish, which he has reiterated on many occasions, is to remain with Udinese."

The 24-year-old, who missed just one game last season for the Friuli outfit, is under contract with Udinese until June 2012.
