Hleb Ready To Leave Arsenal

Thu 10 Jul, 11:09 AM

Arsenal playmaker Alexander Hleb is looking to a future away from the "chaotic way of life" in London.

Hleb is expected to secure his transfer to Barcelona in the coming days after the Primera Liga giants reportedly agreed a fee with Arsenal.

The Belarusian midfielder has made 73 Premier League starts since he signed for The Gunners from Stuttgart in 2005 for a fee of £11.2million.

The 27-year-old has recently grown unsettled at Emirates Stadium and, with a switch to Barca on the horizon, he is confident he is making the right decision in leaving Arsenal.

"I am not happy with my life in Britain, to be honest," Hleb said in an interview in Russia.

"Elements of day-to-day life may prevent me in future from playing a full part with my team here.

"I can't get used to the chaotic way of life in London, where everyone is racing around 24 hours a day. It is uncomfortable and I'm mentally tired.

"I feel I can't keep squeezing enough out of myself to satisfy a team like Arsenal. As a professional I honestly told [manager Arsene] Wenger that at our two recent meetings.

"I was seeking his advice on whether I should leave. I also made no secret that some leading European clubs were interested in me. Wenger wasn't happy about that.

"Serious negotiations are under way now. I have made up my mind."

  1. he's a big loss, he had some great performances including in the champions league (semi's). seem like the wages at arsenal are the onlty factor in the recent losses this club has suffered. i know some people say let them leave, but money is still money. always bringing youngsters who are talented but don't carry any character or influence onto the pitch. untill they find a personality (keano, gerrard type...) they will play well and lose

  2. How many goals do you intend to score for Barca [if you make the first team, that is]? Thanks for the 10 you scored in 3 seasons with the Gunners. If you end up in the reserves, tough luck.

  4. I think it's the player that determines where he wants to play, though their agents sometimes influences them. Hleb has reiterated his desire to leave the EMIRATES because of the chaotic life style in London which he strictly maintained never suits him. There's no need to cry over a spilled milk 'cos it's he can give his best where and when he's not settled and happy. Therefore, let him go for we THE GUNNERS wish him well. We will however miss his hip-breaking dribbles and flawless passes. THE GUNNERS REIGNETH.
