La Liga - Real linked to Van der Vaart bid

Real Madrid have offered 20 million euros (£15.9 million) to sign Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart for five seasons, according to Spanish sports daily Marca.

The report comes one day after rival sports daily AS reported that the Spanish champions' cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid had offered 15 million euros (£11.9 million) for the 25-year-old Dutch international.

Real Madrid and the Dutch player are in "total" agreement over the transfer, Marca reported without citing sources.

Last week Hamburg's new coach, Dutchman Martin Jol, said he was counting on the midfielder for next season, which gets under way in mid-August.

Van der Vaart, who joined Hamburg in 2005 and has a contract until 2010, has said that he would like to play in Spain.

"Spain is my preference because my mother Lolita is Spanish," he told Focus magazine in January.

The player wanted to join Spanish side Valencia last season but the management of the German team refused to give the move the green light.

I absolutley agree with you panchuila sorry for my spelling , Real need Drogba and or another central mid fielder they are good on the wings but not so strong in the center maybe Van der Vaart can change that i was hoping that Real try to bid for Lampard but things just dont change like that he if anything wants to go to inter and thats probably not going to happen either. But Congragulations to Real this is a lot better move than buying ronaldo a winger a ball hog and someone that would ruin REAL MADRIDS team chemistr i think p.s. I hope that Real also notices that Robinho is also extremley Vital to their team aswell he should definantley stay aswell.

  5. I hope Van Der Vaart joins Real. They would be possibly be the strongest team in the world.
    They have almost all the talented dutch players on their team. Drenthe, Sneijder, Van nisteroy, Robben and also hopefully van der vaart and huntelaar.
    I just hope really sign, Van der vaart, Drogba and a good centeral defender.
