Premier League - Hleb glad to quit London chaos

Eurosport - Thu, 10 Jul 15:26:00 2008

Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb says he decided to join Barcelona as he is "not happy" with his life in London.

FOOTBALL, Alexander Hleb, Arsenal - 0

Hleb is expected to secure his transfer to the Catalans in the coming days after the Primera Division giants reportedly agreed a fee with Arsenal.

The 27-year-old has grown unsettled at Emirates Stadium and is confident he is making the right decision in quitting the club for Spain.

"I am not happy with my life in Britain, to be honest," Hleb.

"Elements of day-to-day life may prevent me in future from playing a full part with my team here.

"I can't get used to the chaotic way of life in London, where everyone is racing around 24 hours a day. It is uncomfortable and I'm mentally tired.

"I feel I can't keep squeezing enough out of myself to satisfy a team like Arsenal. As a professional I honestly told [manager Arsene] Wenger that at our two recent meetings.

"I was seeking his advice on whether I should leave. I also made no secret that some leading European clubs were interested in me. Wenger wasn't happy about that.

"Serious negotiations are under way now. I have made up my mind."

  5. If they brought in a wage cap. the business tycoons would probably create a new league altogether.
Hoping to bring in all the greediest players. God that be such a @#$% league.

But anyway. I can't say i was a big fan of Hleb. He lost the ball alot. An awful lot.
We're better off without him. It'll give Walcott a chance to shine. So there is a good side to this story.

  7. well how can you expect to keep your top players if your too tight to pay top wages. things must be bad when liverpool's players are on more than you, arsenal will be going down the table rather than up, and man utd staying top o'lay

  8. arsenal can do without hleb.he will be a failure at barca just like henry.arsenal playing pattern helps to bring out the best in thier midfielders and attackers, that the players dont know.see what happpened to henry and oters.hleb will surely enter into obscurity once he is out of arsenal.good riddance!!!

  9. OF ALL THE COMMENTS ON HLEB'S FLUTUATING BAGS OF EXCUSE,THIS ONE ON NOISY LONDON MAKES HIM AN 11YEARS OLD BOY IN THE BODY OF A 27YEARS OLD MAN-MORON-MUMU.HE SHOULD HAVE GONE TO HIS EASTEN BLOCK VILLAGE FOR A QUIET LIFE WITH A SIMILAR CLUB.ITS OBVIOUS HE WANTED A PLACE WHERE HE CAN COUNT MORE MONEY EVEN IF HE SCORES 10GOALS IN 3 SEASONS.

  14. im an arsenal fan, and have been for 23 years and seen players come and go, now after the henry leaving as i can remember hleb was very unhappy at the club for him going and stated that he would go come an offer from barca any offer but it neva came so this season the likes of ac milan were interested in hleb offered arsenal 15 million for him (way ova budget for the likes of him only scoreing 10 goals in 3 seasons) but in an interveiw he said and quoted he was very happy to be at arsenal and has no intention of leaving that it was all the media miss taking what he said. But suprise suprise barca offer him a contract and he goes only offering 7.5 million, he was first team at arsenal he be luckly to be 2nd team going because of the money @#$% his going there for one reason and one only to be part of a team who have a hell of a lot of cups and bonuses thats what its all about money money money money money tropheys goodluck to him he will be like henry he will want to come back all 4 cups for the gooners.

  17. arsenal are shooting themself in the foot by sticking to their cheap policies on wages. There a rich club surely they can afford to pay a proper wage and keep their players. Theve lost 3rd spot in the league for next season and really let their fans down by losing players, liverpool have a much better squad than arsenal now and i think arsenal are in danger of slipping out the big 4 completely.

  18. Stop making excuses HLEB, we all know why you're leaving. Its really simple,a man of your expertise will require more cheese(Money)as your contract is drawing close to the renewal date and we all know ARSENAL will not bust their wage cap. So you better run quickly before anyone can get the chance to call you greedy as you have served us pretty well enough. I must warn that careers tend to go slightly downhill after life at ARSENAL......Anelka......Petit...even Henry.....so good luck mate! I dont blame you but you will only have yourself to blame because you can still play a big part in this team if you're just a bit patient.

  20. Hleb or watever you call yourself just get lost we are so tired of you, all you have done for Arsenal is to waste good chances so why should we miss you? OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!
