As Formula One rolls into the legendary Nurburgring, here is our advice for getting maximum results from your Fantasy team.
HOW IT WORKS
- You choose three drivers for each race - one from Group A and two from Group B - plus a team.
- The top eight finishers in the race receive 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 fantasy points respectively, plus there is a bonus point for any driver leading at any stage during the race and another for completing the entire race.
- The top three drivers in qualifying will earn 3, 2 and 1 points respectively, meaning each driver can receive a maximum of 15 fantasy points during each race and each team can earn a maximum of 27 fantasy points per race.
- Each driver and constructor can be an active member of your team in no more than four races.
The deadline to create a team for each race is 8am local time on the day of qualifying.
NURBURGRING NOUS
The weather forecast predicts showers during qualifying on Saturday, but sun for the race on Sunday. One thing is for sure - it will be a cool weekend.
Conditions should be similar to those for the British Grand Prix, which is great news for Red Bull, who bagged a one-two at Silverstone.
Brawn are at their best when you can fry an egg on the pitlane - any attempts to do so in Germany will just result in a sticky, yolky mess.
The only thing making On The Grid wary of recommending a Vettel-Webber-Red Bull hat-trick is the prospect of rain, which could turn things into a lottery.
The circuit itself has a good mix of fast and slow corners which is popular with drivers and should not benefit any team in particular.
And as it is not a regular testing venue, the drivers approach the weekend pretty much on a level playing field.
A DRIVERS: Felipe Massa again appears the pick of the litter from the A drivers, but he isn't going to win so you might save your Ferrari selections if you fancy them to get things right later in the season.
Fernando Alonso always gives good value, and should be even more dangerous in the wet.
At least you know Nick Heidfeld is going to finish, so he could be a reasonable selection in the wet, as could Lewis Hamilton who will have a chance to show off his pure driving skill in an absolute dog of a car.
Heikki Kovalainen is not to be touched with a 10-foot bargepole. But then you probably knew that.
B DRIVERS: Red Bull should have a fantastic weekend, so why not take a gamble and select a Vettel-Webber tandem? The weather is a concern, but there are crazier gambles you could take.
If you think it is going to rain, it might be worth steering clear of the likes of Vettel and Jenson Button, and saving those selections for a weekend when the result is less open to chance.
Jarno Trulli's inability to make a standing start means he rarely converts impressive qualifying times into convincing results, but he is still the top-scoring driver outside the 'Big Four'.
Williams also seem to go better in practice and qualifying than in the race, but Nico Rosberg will be desperate to impress on home tarmac.
TEAMS: Once again, it is a question of maximising the picks you have at your disposal. Of course Brawn GP will accrue some points, but why pick them now when they will do so much better when the sun is shining later in the summer?
If you trust the rain to stay away - and not to disrupt qualifying too much - it should be Red Bull all the way.
But if you don't want the elements to scupper your hopes, Toyota and Williams should be in the points. So too will Alonso, but Nelson Piquet Jr's woes make Renault a dodgy selection.
We keep waiting for Ferrari to make a big leap forwards, but it simply hasn't happened. In fact, Raikkonen has already admitted they have no chance of winning the race. It might be true, but you probably don't want to hear it from one of your drivers.
