US sports tycoon Stan Kroenke has increased his influence at Arsenal after he moved up to 28.58 per cent ownership of the Premier League club.
The Gunners said Kroenke, who joined the board last year and became the largest shareholder in May, paid £1.5 million for another 160 shares at £8,500 each.
Kroenke has leapfrogged Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who was the largest shareholder with about 25 per cent.
The American businessman's shareholding is now close to the 30 per cent threshold that would force him to make an automatic offer for the remaining shares, although he has previously said he is not interested in pursuing a full buyout.
Arsenal have been at the centre of takeover speculation after Kroenke and Usmanov started building stakes.
Earlier this week Usmanov offered to invest £60m for the club to spend in the transfer market, but his plan was rejected by the club's board.

Y M C A the guys a clown arsenal can compete anyhow if they get a reliable striker and a decent goalkeaper dont need wedges of money just arsene s fantatic football brain and the talent they have
Only a matter of time before this takeover happens, i wonder if they have the cash to compete with the big boys.
johnquinnauctioneers
Have you been at those jamaican roll ups again?and there is no need to shout as for arsenal football club i beleive if they do not spend money soon they will find themselves in the middle of the premiership especially when barcalona and real madrid have finished poaching your players i cant believe 60 thousand supporters will be so keen to go and see a bunch of kids. However i heard that same statment a few years ago and look what happened then.Come on wenger shake the coffers and purchase some new players!!
You should know Moondog.
Anyway,in this modern world it is considered a compliment, not so?

Alisher Usmanov pls leave the board you have too many scuffs with the wrong side of the law!!!
its funny people are talking but we all know if the big four get off to a good star the like of villa city everton and the rest will just have to look on because last
season arsenal started a bit slow thats why villa was able to dance with the big four
but not for long but on other levels we need big money to go for the tittle
we are almost thier but a few good signs would do i think we may see a few new faces before the league starts hopefully
Boring, boring!
Let's hope that Man City, Everton, Villa, or even Blackburn, can actually give Arsenal a run for their vast money next season............wouldn't it be so sweet 2 c a DIFFERENT team seriously going for that 4th Champs league place next season - and even actually clinching it, for once!..........................come on U best of the rest!

but what is wrong that my own liverpool are not yet to get some good and best player like that of rael
I HOPE ARSENAL BOARD STOP COMING OUT WITH THE NONSENSE THAT THEY HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR WENGER TO SPEND BUT HE DOES NOT .WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH.WHICH MANAGER WILL NOT LIKE TOP CLASS PLAYERS IN HIS TEAM.
You are deluding yourselves. You think septics care about "soccer". They are in it for the money. Man U, Liverpool and now Arsenal will find that out to their cost. Russians? - money laundering. Asians? - to sell merchandise in Asia and for prestige in Thailand/Malaysia/Timbuktoo. Arabs? - toys to play with (what else you gonna do with petrodollars? Buy sand?
So far he looks like the reasonable one of the American Money blow-ers in the top four. I hope Arsenal doesnt end up like Man u or Liverpool. And thank god not another Middle eastern mess!!
arsenal will win silverware people have just to BELEIVE in the wenger stratgy!!! arsenal are a major club and a powerhouse in europe they havn't won the cl yet but we have been there and there abouts every year over the last decade not to say we should have won when in the final against barca=the ref should of let the goal barca got and just of given layman(G.K.) a yellow card so it would of been a better game of football from the 2 best footballing teams in europe/world...the gooners would have won it was their year...so silverware is on it's way don't matter what player's we have once we have wenger to lead the way BEST manager in europe always in demand/you never hear barca or real madrid looking to get A.ferguson as manager how mant years did it take alex to win something (give a monkey a club almost unlimited funds 4 buying players and 2 to 3 decades and the monkey will win something given enough time!!!) so the arsenal will win once we have wenger in the team..."SO BELIEVE"
Thiese statements are partially correct
The Avalanche an NHL franchise and the Nuggets are both contenders..
The Avalanche were a good team, but they were only so due to the pending rise based on the Quebec Nordiques! They are now (season ended) 2nd from the bottom in the NHL. The Nuggests have played poorly for years/decades. They've had a decent go in the past couple of years. Both are very small market teams.
...I think he'll do the right thing...
On the flip side, he does own the American football/soccer team the Rapids too which does have some odd partnership with the gunners. (The Rapids are a mediocre team due to inconsistency.) He appears committed to football regardless of short term profit, as evidenced by the complex built in CO for football (@#$%'s sporting goods park).
At the end of the day though, it is a business..
he is lucky vince mcmahon never kicked his @#$%, check out youtube if you dont understand
Here here peter
