Jimmy White beat former world champion Shaun Murphy 6-4 in the last 32 round of the Sangson 6-Reds World Grand Prix in Bangkok.
White barely made it into the knockout stage by finishing fourth in his group while in contrast Murphy won all but one of his games to top his group.
However, White got the better of Murphy on the day and even had a 6-reds maximum break of 75 and will now play defending champion Ricky Walden in the last 16.
Another former world champion, Peter Ebdon, is also out after he was beaten 6-1 by Judd Trump in their last 32 contest.
Mark Williams and Ken Doherty defeated Atthasit Mahitthi and Phaithoon Phonbun respectively to set up a meeting between the two former world champions in the last 16.
The winner of the event will receive approx £18,200.
