Martin Ling believes JJ Melligan can be his "ace in the pack" after the midfielder helped Leyton Orient beat Hereford 2-1 on Saturday.Orient fell behind after 14 minutes to a Dean Beckwith strike but winger Melligan, who had been transfer-listed at the end of last season only to be taken off the list just a couple of weeks ago, led the Os' comeback with a 23rd-minute strike and then his cross was handled by Richard Rose, leaving Adam Boyd to complete the comeback from the penalty spot.

"Our midfielders and front men all did their job and JJ Melligan deserved his goal because he has been our best player in pre-season," said Ling. "He could be the ace in our pack this year.

"We looked good and comfortable at the back with just one error in the game, although that led to their goal. But that apart I was more than satisfied with our performance."
