Darlington boss Dave Penney was less impressed with his side following the 1-1 draw with Exeter and criticised his players for sitting back. However, Penney admitted he was pleased with the performance of Billy Clarke, who was making his debut for the Quakers following his loan move from Ipswich.
The Darlo boss said: "We played at a good tempo in the first half and then we conceded a goal in the second half because we thought we could sit back and defend a 1-0 lead.
"We showed last season that we are incapable of doing that and we need to get it out of our system.
"We brought in Billy Clarke on Friday and he had a few good opportunities for us. He may not have scored but I was very pleased that all of his efforts were on target.
"He is not the same type of player as Tommy Wright but he will come good for us this season for as long as we have him in our side."
