Scott expects more sting from Bees

Sun 10 Aug, 04:46 PM

Brentford boss Andy Scott made no excuses for his side's failure to build on their early possession during the 1-0 defeat away to Bury.A superbly-taken goal by Bury striker Andy Bishop in the 42nd minute proved enough to give the Shakers a deserved victory at Gigg Lane on Saturday.

"We created a lot of chances early on and if we'd taken one of those, maybe we'd have gone on to win the game," he said. "But we're not making any excuses. We weren't good enough throughout the 90 minutes and that's why we got beat.

"It started when we stopped getting hold of it enough up front and the ball kept coming back at us.

"It was better second half and although they broke away and hit a post, we'd gone to three at the back and were pushing forward then.

"Really, we should have worked their keeper more, but we didn't have enough quality in the final third. We've got to do better if we're going to be up there this season."
