Former World Tour competitor, Dan Ross of Australia, stormed his way back onto the Dream Tour on Friday, winning surfings 5* Star Relentless Boardmasters at Fistral Beach, Newquay. The Relentless Boardmasters is the UKs premier surfing event, attracting the best surfers from all over the world. This year was no exception, with such dignitaries present as Hawaiis John John Florence and defending Boardmasters champion Wiggoly Dantas.

Basque Countrys Txaber Trojaola, regarded by many as an event underdog, found form with an outstanding performance to secure a spot in the final against Ross. The experienced Ross, who nailed an outstanding 17.83 heat score on his way to the final, eventually proved too much for the young shredder saying, Its a pretty incredible feeling right now. Its such a good year already and its got even better today so I guess that by putting everything together and doing the things I do, its paid off and its great. I am not sure what I am doing next, I havent been home at all this year and that result will make me think about my schedule.

Trojaola, who secured his best ever World Qualifying Series finish, ousted local favourite Alan Stokes and Glen Hall of Ireland on his way to the final, and was understandably stoked with an outstanding performance. He said, I am just over the moon right now and I cant believe Ive placed runner-up. I never thought I would make the final, its my best result ever and I got through a few tricky heats. The truth is I had nothing to lose and took heat by heat and did not feel any pressure being the outsider. I had a game plan and stuck to it, and its taken me to the final. It is pretty amazing.
