Out-of-favour PSG defender Sammy Traore is set to join Auxerre on a season-long loan provided he passes a medical.

The 31-year-old Mali centre back only moved to Paris from Nice last season but has struggled to establish himself under boss Paul Le Guen and will join struggling Auxerre until the end of the current campaign with no option to buy.

His signing will come as a boost to troubled Auxerre, who lie 18th in Ligue 1 with the worst defence in the division after seven weeks.

Traore has not featured for PSG since playing 81 minutes in the first game of the season, the goalless draw against Sochuax, with Le Guen instead preferring to use new signings Zoumana Camara et Gregory Bourillon.

PSG lie 13th in Ligue 1 after drawing five out of their first seven matches.
