NBA star Ben Gordon has insisted he remains committed to the Great Britain - despite sitting out of this week's EuroBasket.
Gordon, who was born in London but left the city as a ten-month old baby, was expected to make his debut in Poland.
But he elected to stay in the USA, following his high-profile move from the Chicago Bulls to the Detroit Pistons, a switch worth a reported 55 million US dollars.
With Gordon absent and fellow NBA star Luol Deng injured, Great Britain slumped to three consecutive defeats in Warsaw - losing to Slovenia, world champions Spain and Serbia.
"I made up my mind and I'm definitely on board to play for Great Britain," said Gordon.
"But I didn't want to make a commitment as far as when I was going to play till I felt that I was totally committed to that cause.
"I want to go there when I'm ready and this summer to me was about getting situated and moving from Chicago to Detroit.
"I wanted to have everything in order in my life before going overseas and representing the country."
Great Britain needed to finish in the top six in Poland to be guaranteed a place at next year's World Championships in Turkey.
They will now need to rely on one of four wildcards that are in the gift of world governing body Fiba.
