Grand National winner Comply Or Die could make his seasonal reappearance in the Servo Computer Services Handicap Chase at Cheltenham's Paddy Power meeting this weekend.
David Pipe is considering giving the Aintree hero his first run of the campaign in the stamina-sapping contest, with the nine-year-old having been rested since his success in the John Smith's-sponsored showpiece in April.
Pipe said: "He gave us an amazing day at Aintree and it still hasn't really sunk in yet.
"He came out of the race in great fashion, is cantering daily and is in great form.
"He is in on Saturday and we will have a look at the entries and decide if he runs. If he doesn't go there then he will go to the Hennessy - but it is unlikely he will run in both races.
"He is now rated 154 so life could be tougher this year, but in his novice season he was second to Trabolgan in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase so he is a quality horse and doesn't have many miles on the clock.
"Long term the National is the aim again."
This weekend's meeting was a happy hunting ground for Pipe's father and 15-times champion trainer Martin, but things weren't so rosy 12 months ago for Pipe junior as he drew a blank across the three days.
He goes to war this time with a strong hand and is looking to Leo's Lucky Star to build on a recent Ascot success.
Pipe said: "He won last time but it wasn't the greatest of races with Mad Max being withdrawn.
"We have taken him out of the Greatwood and he will go for the two-mile novice (Sharp Novices' Hurdle) on Friday, which Mad Max has also been entered in.
"He wouldn't want it too soft but it is only the second race of the meeting so the ground will be decent.
"He has come out of Ascot well and I think there is room for more improvement."
Another heading to the meeting is I'm So Lucky, with the Swinton Hurdle runner-up having eased home on a couple of chasing assignments during the early part of the summer.
He has the choice of a novice or handicap engagement this weekend, and Pipe said: "He finished second to Blue Bajan in the Swinton and then went chasing early in the summer where he was impressive in small races.
"We gave him a break after that and after bring him back we have had to give him a slightly rushed preparation for this weekend.
"He is a high-class horse and I hope he can play a part in the big two-mile races later this year."
While I'm So Lucky is a rising star of the Pond House team, 12-year-old Puntal is a familiar fixture and is back for another crack at the Glenfarclas Cross County Chase.
Pipe added: "He was unlucky as he took the wrong course last year and lost about 30 lengths, only to make up ground and still get third.
"The aim is to take him back there on Friday and if he takes to it like last time then he could run a big race, and I hope he can start the meeting on a good note."
