Tourists Await News Of Venue Switch

Mon 10 Nov, 02:09 PM

England have received no official confirmation on reports their one-day international against India in Guwahati on November 29 is due to be moved for security reasons.

The tourists were aware of rumours circulating around India that the match, the sixth in the seven-match series, was set to move to Kolkata following bomb blasts in the capital of the Assam state.

Around 70 people were killed in the blasts a week ago, prompting talks between the England and Wales Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India about security for the match.

But reports claimed the match had been moved to Mohali instead, although an England team spokesman insisted no official confirmation had been received, adding: "If the BCCI would like to discuss the schedule we would be happy to talk to them."

England's one-day international in Guwahati two years ago was marred by crowd riots when the match was called off because of a damp outfield.
