Chelsea will make Franck Ribery their number one transfer target once the transfer window opens in January.
Having had their transfer ban suspended, Chelsea are now in the luxurious position of being able to actually spend some of Roman Abramovich's cash in the New Year, and long-term target Ribery tops the Blues' wish list.
A bid of just over £40 million for the Bayern Munich midfielder was rejected in the summer, even though at one stage even Jose Bosingwa, who is highly-rated by the Bundesliga club, was thrown into the mix.
Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of the France international and, with Ribery stalling over the signing of a new contract in Germany, the Chelsea boss is set to make another move in January. (Daily Telegraph)
Robinho's exit from Manchester City is close to being sealed at a meeting in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, with the Brazilian now likely to leave for Barcelona on an initial loan deal.
The European champions are set to pay a £6m 'arrangement fee' for the forward, who cost City £32.5m 15 months ago, with a view to a permanent move to the Camp Nou in the summer. (The Sun)
Tottenham are lining up a £3m swoop for Valencia midfielder Vicente, who has fallen out with the cash-strapped Spanish club after blaming club doctors for his persistent injury problems.
The former Spain international is usually overlooked in favour of David Silva and Manuel Mata and Valencia are ready to offload him once the window opens in January. (Daily Mail)
West Ham striker Dean Ashton has finally admitted defeat in his battle against a persistent ankle problem and is set to announce his retirement. (The Times)
The England international's latest breakdown came in September last year and he has not played since. His decision could spark a £7m compensation claim to the FA. (The Independent)
And finally for today's meagre offerings, Bolton are considering making a loan move for injured Everton striker James Vaughan (Daily Mail), Blackburn are eyeing up Hajduk Split's Bosnian winger Senijad Ibricic and Ajax starlet Luis Suarez has played down reports of a January move to Manchester United.

I still can't believe their transfer ban is suspended, what is the point in giving one to a team if it doesn't make any difference over the first transfer window they come to?
Watch them splash out outrageously in january to cover lost chances during the impending ban.
Therefore any difference a transfer ban would have made to teach a lesson is almost nullified....
dean ashton was good
woof woof ggrrrr
hey foey they will be doing you out of a job next ha ha only joking your all right for a scouser new id the cloners out and giving it me large you know who i am we had our dissagreements but its sorted now hope your lot can get up for city like you did for us or they will have your cl spot pal
Sorry James - but what does "a disaster in terms of image" mean? What the f uck has Ribery's ability as a footballer player got to do with image? And if Chelsea are intent on building a site based on image, don't you think that you might find Terry and Fat Frank having to play with bags on their heads?
what the hell is going on with that John Terry? His mums a theiving toerag and his dads a drug dealer what type of scumbags are these people no wonder john terry is a rubber faced rat
Arsenal......i am hoping Wenger brings in a top center back as cover for Vermealen and Gallas as we do not have good cover there while Djourou is out injured! Song would be my first choice as cover and then use Denilson in the holding role behind Cesc & Diaby.
Ribery will be at Real Madrid not Chelski! Robinho to Barca and Ribery at Madrid, will make a great El Classico!!!
Scouse baby, its obvious ur the 40 year old man virgin from the film. so go visit donney at the mental hospital u virgin.
RIBERY COME TO CHELSEAAAAAAAAA
aBd !
Hey Chelsea dont need Ribery, just keep Essien ok
I kinda agree with James. I feel that Ribery wont fit in Chelsea, but is still a great player. Unlike Ribery, Aguero would fit PERFECT. Spend ur money on him, Chelsea!
scouse baby why dont u piss off from this page? I cant stand ur half written French and i think u should learn to speak clear english first......piss off to Europa......u wont even win that since Bayern and Barca r joining u there!
I am French and a season ticket holder at SB. I do not think that Ribery would be the right player for Chelsea. He is certainly talented, but mentally not up to the level, and a disaster in terms of image, I would say. He definitely has more of a Utd profile. Gourcuff is the deal. The only real top French player at the moment. Young, technically brilliant, physically strong, and very intelligent, he is the next Kaka and the right player to be picked in view of the replacement of Ballack to be planned soon.
charlottereman say that to my face i will chew your ankle you lesbo woof woof gggrrrr you can be my b.i.t.c.h i will do you doggy style woof woof ggggrrrrr no one messes with me and my lockjaw ggggrrrrrrrr
