Sunday Clockwatch

Mon 10 Dec, 12:16 AM

1757: Finally we'll round up the day's action. The big story is that Arsenal's unbeaten start to the season is over. They lost for the first time in 23 Premier League matches today, going down 2-1 at Middlesbrough. It was a good day for the teams at the bottom with Bolton crushing Wigan 4-1 and Spurs seeing off Manchester City 2-1 with a late goal from Jermain Defoe. And as you've just heard, West Ham beat Blackburn 1-0. In the Championship, Stoke and Watford drew 0-0, a result which leaves the Hornets two points clear at the top of the table.

1755: The answer is yes. The full-time whistle goes and West Ham have beaten Blackburn 1-0 thanks to Ashton's goal. Keeper Rob Green was their real hero though with a number of fine saves. West Ham climb into the top half of the table; they are now 10th. Rovers are four points better off in ninth.

1754: The ball drops to Emerton just outside the box. He strikes it on the volley but the effort is wide of its intended target. Is that the last chance?

1753: Rovers just can't get the ball in the danger area. One minute to go now.

1753: Boa Morte wastes a decent chance with a poor pass through the middle to Ashton. It fails to find its target.

1752: From the short flag kick, the ball finds Boa Morte whose unleashes a venomous shot which stings Friedel's palms and results in another corner.

1751: McCartney gets down the left to win a corner which relieves the pressure for West Ham.

1750: There will be four added minutes.

1750: It's a nervy finish by West Ham who are inviting the 10 men of Blackburn on - a dangerous game at only 1-0 up.

1749: West Ham make their third and final change. Loanee striker Henri Camara is replacing Cole.

1748: The West Ham fans are chanting 'England's number one' in relation to Green and on this display you can't argue. He hasn't had that much to do but everything he's done, he's done well.

1747: Another corner. This one is only half cleared and when the ball comes to Tugay his thumping effort is brilliantly kept out by Green who has been excellent today.

1746: Corner to Blackburn as Emerton's cross is blocked behind. Emerton's flag kick beats all the men at the near post and almost goes in off a surprised Upson.

1745: Blackburn have just five minutes left to grab an equaliser with their 10 men.

1743: Ooijer has to limp off, leaving Blackburn with just 10 men as they have used all their subs.

1742: Amazing scenes as Ooijer just stops and goes down hurt while in possession, allowing Cole to race down the right. He pulls the ball back for Ashton who wastes a golden opportunity to kill the game blasting over the bar.

1741: Friedel comes out to clear as Cole threatens to latch onto Boa Morte's long ball.

1739: Parker hurdles a poor tackle from Reid who is lucky not to be booked.

1738: Friedel is unhappy with Cole's challenge which he felt was late and uncalled for. Cole has already been booked but ref Alan Wiley decides against another card. It is doubtful whether Cole was ever going to get the ball that Friedel grabbed.

1736: Santa Cruz misses an even better chance to level this game. He loses his marker inside the box but fires over the bar with a wild shot with only Green to beat.

1735: Change for West Ham - Jonathan Spector comes on for Solano. Looks like West Ham will try to defend this lead. Blackburn also make a substitution with Jason Roberts replacing Pedersen.

1734: Almost the equaliser from Roque Santa Cruz. He gets above Upson to connect with Pedersen's cross but the header is just wide.

1732: A good cross from Solano on the right picks out Boa Morte at the far post. He sets up for the volley, hits it cleanly but Friedel makes a fine stop. Almost 2-0 there.

1731: Samba tries a shot from distance. He scored a cracker at Spurs earlier this season but this effort fails to trouble Green. It's weak and rolls through to the keeper.

1730: Twenty minutes to go at Ewood Park and West Ham still lead 1-0 thanks to Ashton's goal at the start of the second half.

1729: Reid is coming on now and it will be for Dunn.

1728: Samba gingerly returns to the fray.

1727: Samba gets treatment and then limps to the sideline. Steven Reid's introduction will be delayed as a result.

1726: Cole slide tackles into Samba and is booked for his troubles. He was late and that was a poor challenge. It's his fifth yellow card of the season and Cole will be banned for the clash with Middlesbrough later this month.

1725: A jinking run from Brett Emerton almost finds a way through the West Ham defence. Moments later he finds Pedersen but the Norwegian fires wide from a tight angle.

1723: Tugay's shot from 30 yards out takes a deflection but doesn't deceive Green who is fully behind the ball.

1721: An ambitious effort to say the least from Ashton is high, wide and not very handsome.

1720: Solano fouls Benni McCarthy on the left and Rovers win a free kick in a dangerous position. The ball is rolled to Tugay but his shot is sliced and is always moving away from goal.

1719: Samba does well to knock the ball back to Friedel when under pressure from Ashton.

1718: At the other end Cole gets down the left but when he sends the ball into the box he can't pick out Ashton and Rovers clear.

1717: West Ham's error is almost punished. Samba gets up for a towering header but Green gets down to make a brilliant stop. He then thwarts Ooijer from the rebound. Great stuff from the England hopeful.

1716: An embarrassing attempted clearance sees McCarntney miss the ball. It hits his standing leg and goes behind for a corner.

1715: An overhit cross from Warnock down the left runs out for a throw on the other side of the pitch. Not good.

1713: Green pushes a floated cross to his back post behind. A sensible move. West Ham clear the corner to the edge of the box where Samba mis-hits his shot.

1712: It was a goal that wasn't really expected, but now we have it Blackburn will have to come out and attack more.

1711: GOAL - ASHTON. Solano sends McCartney to the byline and he pulls the ball back perfectly for Ashton to tap home. The former Norwich striker didn't have to move and had a simple chance to slot home. 1-0 West Ham and that penalty appeal is long forgotten.

1710: Geroge McCartney appeals for a penalty after seeing his shot blocked, possibly by a hand. Alan Wiley waves play on.

1709: Pedersen gets into a good position to cross on the left but his delivery leaves a lot to be desired. Not a lot of quality of show so far this afternoon at Ewood Park.

1708: Corner to West Ham. Solano knocks it in but no-one challenges keeper Brad Friedel and he claims with ease.

1707: Dunn overhits a through ball and it runs through to keeper Green.

1705: Two substitutions have been made. Aaron Mokoena has been replaced by Robbie Savage for Blackburn, while Dean Ashton is on in place of Matthew Etherington for the visitors.

1705: West Ham get the game back under way at Ewood Park. Let's hope it's a better second period.

1658: Now we'll focus on the Blackburn-West Ham game. It's goalless at half time in that one.

1656: Tottenham are up to 13th as a result of those three points, while Bolton are just a place behind them. It's been a good day for the teams at the bottom. Middlesbrough beat Arsenal 2-1 earlier, so Sunderland have joined Derby and Wigan in the relegation zone. They are just below Fulham on goal difference.

1655: Spurs have won for only the third time this season! They've seen off Manchestter City 2-1 at White Hart Lane. The sending off of Stephen Ireland late on proved key. It was 1-1 at that stage and from the free kick, substitute Defoe bagged Spurs' winner.

1654: That's it at the Reebok where Bolton have beaten Wigan 4-1 in their battle at the bottom.

1652: Teemu Taino is on for Spurs as they look to see things out against City, whom they lead 2-1. Berbatov goes off. The changes comes after a good double save from City keeper Isaksson.

1650: Bolton have been good today. They shouldn't be too concerned about relegation on this showing. It's a different story for Wigan though. They gave it a good go but have been well beaten in the end.

1649: GOAL - ANELKA. It's now 4-1 to Bolton against Wigan. Davies crosses from the right, Nolan dummies perfectly, leaving Anelka with an easy chance. This time he finds the net and it's game over. Three points for Bolton in this crucial game at the bottom of the table.

1647: The half-time whistle is blown at Blackburn where it's been a game of few chances and it remains Rovers 0 West Ham 0.

1646: Just over five minutes for City's 10 men to get back into the game at Tottenham.

1645: Defoe is booked for his exuberant celebrations. Sven-Goran Eriksson will be fuming (inside at least) at Ireland's tackle which has left his side both a man and a goal down.

1644: GOAL - DEFOE. It's 2-1 to Spurs. The free kick which resulted from the red card was never properly clleared. Eventually Steed Malbranque curls in a low ball from the left which rolls all the way through and against the post. It comes back out to Defoe who can't really miss. Spurs lead 2-1.

1643: Red card at Spurs and it's Stephen Ireland for a horrible two-footed tackle on Lee Young-Pyo.

1642: At the other end, Pedersen almost opens the scoring. His low shot comes off the underside of Rob Green's body and ends up in the side netting. Good effort.

1641: Solano finds space down the right but can't find either Cole or Boa Morte with his low cross. The ball is soon back at Solano's feet and this time drives over the bar. Still 0-0.

1639: At Ewood, Rovers full-back Stephen Warnock gets down the left but overhits his cross and so Dunn is always struggling to control his header. In the end the ball goes straight up in the air.

1638: Wigan's Scharner wants a penalty - he claims Campo pushed him. He seems to have a case - he was knocked from his stride - but there wasn't a great deal in that and the ref decides to wave play on.

1636: Diouf is going off at the Reebok with Gavin McCann replacing him. The Senegal international had one of his better days today.

1635: A Scott Parker shot flies wide of the Blackburn goal at Ewood, while at Spurs there's some argy bargy which ends with Dunne being booked for City.

1634: A quick round-up. Blackburn and West Ham is still goalless in the first half. Bolton lead Wigan 3-1 with around 20 minutes to go. Spurs and Man City are level at 1-1. They kicked off at the same time as Bolton. Earlier Middlesbrough ended Arsenal's unbeaten record with a 2-1 victory.

1633: Now Wigan win a free kick just outside the penalty area. Koumas tries his luck but Jaaskelainen is fully behindit and makes a comfortable save.

1631: Another free kick to Bolton and Diouf's delivery is again good. The ball is only half-cleared to Nolan on the edge of the box and he curls a shot just past the angle. Wigan survive but trail 3-1.

1629: GOAL - DAVIES. A Bolton free kick at the Reebok is whipped in by Diouf and Kevin Davies gets behind his marker to stab the ball into the corner with his outstretched left boot. 3-1.

1627: Aaron Lennon goes off for Kevin-Prince Boateng at the Lane where City have got on top in the last few minutes.

1625: Back at Ewood, Lucas Neill crosses towards Carlton Cole but Samba beats him in the air and nods behind.

1624: City are buoyant and now Petrov's fine cross from the left is headed behind for a corner.

1623: Bent goes down under Dunne's challenge at Spurs but the ref waves play on. That was a red card if Mark Halsey gives that.

1622: Bianchi, who cost £8million in the summer, has been linked with a move away from City this week after struggling so far this term, but he did the business there.

1621: GOAL - BIANCHI. City draw level at Spurs through their Italian 'misfit'. He is left unmarked and heads home Petrov's corner. More poor defending from Spurs and they pay the price. 1-1 at the Lane.

1620: Bolton win a free kick just outside the box to the left. The ball is rolled to Ivan Campo but his shot is blocked.

1619: Antonio Valencia is booked in the Bolton game. He caught Ricardo Gardner late.

1618: Tugay tries one of his trademark long-range howitzers at Ewood and the ball whistles just past the post with Robert Green rooted to the spot. It remains goalless.

1617: It's a good game at the Reebok where both sides are totally committed. No questioning their desire in the battle against the drop. Remember, Bolton lead 2-1.

1616: Diouf almost makes it 3-1 at the Reebok but his far-post header after a cross from the right is brilliantly kept out by Boyce's intervention on the line.

1615: There's not much happening at Tottenham where the hosts still lead Man City 1-0.

1614: Andre Ooijer is booked for Blackburn. It was a late tackle on Luis Boa Morte that did for the Dutchman.

1613: Wigan have forced a series of corners and are pushing for an equaliser at the Reebok. Now Heskey heads over at the far post from just five yards out. It was a great cross from the right by Koumas.

1611: Wigan go close again. This time it's Bent with a towering header which produces a top-class save from the Finnish stopper.

1610: Corner to Wigan in the end-to-end battle in Bolton. The hosts half clear but then Landzaat rattles in a shot which Jaaskelainen does well to save at the foot of his post.

1608: At the Reebok, Anelka slices a shot wide of goal as the hosts push forward looking to make it 3-1.

1607: David Dunn goes close to an opening goal at Ewood. He tries his luck from around 25 yards and ball whistles past the angle of post and bar.

1605: From Solano's corner, Matthew Upson heads past the angle. Meanwhile the teams are back out at the Reebok and White Hart Lane ready for the second halves.

1604: A good early attack from West Ham ends with Nolberto Solano's cross from the right being headed behind by Christopher Samba.

1602: Rovers get the game under way.

1600: We're just about to get under way at Ewood Park in the final game of the day - Blackburn against West Ham. Rovers will go seventh if they win. An away victory will see the Hammers climb into the top half.

1549: The whistle also goes at theReebok where Bolton lead 2-1 against Wigan. Anellka has missed a penalty for the hosts but they lead through a Scharner own goal and Nolan's effort. Landzaat bagged Wigan's reply.

1548: Half time at the Lane now. It's Spurs 1 Manchester City 0. City skipper Richard Dunne argues with the officials, presumably about the goal, as the players leave the field.

1547: City may be aggrieved at that Chimbonda goal. The Frenchman appeared to be in an offside position as Berbatov hit the ball goalwards. However, the goal stands and Spurs lead.

1546: GOAL - CHIMBONDA. Sure enough Spurs score. Jermaine Jenas plays the ball to Berbatov's feet and he shoots. The goalbound effort is nudged over the line by Chimbonda's chest to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

1545: Spurs have had the better of things at the Lane but are still looking for a goal. They have a free kick near the left corner so perhaps this is a chance.

1540: Koumas is inches away from the equaliser at the Reebok. He hits a free kick just wide of Jaaskelainen's left-hand post.

1539: A decent game at the Reebok. This would be a great result for Bolton at the bottom were it stay at 2-1.

1538: GOAL - NOLAN. Bolton go 2-1 up on Wigan. Hunt finds Anelka in the box on the right-hand side and he sends in a low ball which runs to Nolan who forces it over the line.

1534: At the Reebok, Diouf sends a tempting ball across the face of goal but none of his team-mates is in a position to stab it home. Still 1-1.

1533: Team news from Ewood Park. Blackburn bring back Morten Gamst Pedersen in place of last week's two-goal hero against Newcastle, David Bentley. He is suspended. West Ham are unchanged from the side that lost 1-0 at Chelsea last weekend.

1531: Wigan go close to taking the lead at Bolton. Bent gets in behind the defence but is forced wide by Jussi Jaaskelainen. Emile Heskey comes in to help but is denied by a good tackle from Nicky Hunt.

1529: Blackburn v West Ham is at 1600 but for now we'll focus on the games at Tottenham and Bolton. Spurs and City is still goalless, while Bolton and Wigan are level at 1-1.

1527: A miserable day for Arsenal is over. They've lost 2-1 at Middlesbrough who climb out of the relegation zone thanks to goals from Downing and Tuncay. It's Arsenal's first defeat of the season in the league and ends a run of 22 matches without defeat in the top flight by the Gunners. They still lead the league but only by a point now from Manchester United.

1526: GOAL - ROSICKY. The Czech pulls one back in the final minute at Boro. He produces a fine finish into the corner from 18 yards but surely it's too late.

1525: Penalty for Bolton. The ball struck Kevin Kilbane's hand in the box. However, Anelka steps up and lofts the ball over the crossbar. Awful spot kick from the Frenchman which comes seven days after last week's open-goal miss at Anfield.

1524: Etuhu hits the side netting for City at Spurs. A rare attack from them.

1523: At Bolton, the ball runs to Jason Koumas on the edge of the box but he doesn't strike the ball sweetly and the shot rolls wide of the target.

1522: Into injury time at the Riverside - there will be four minutes. As we do so, Adam Johnson replaces Tuncay.

1520: Walcott wins a corner off Pogatetz. It's played short but as Arsenal try to work the ball, Boro's defence stands firm.

1519: Bendtner finds Adebayor in on goal but his first touch is abysmal and the chance to hit back is gone. Surely that's it now for the Gunners with just three minutes left.

1518: Bent across the face of goal for Spurs at the Lane. Picking out a team-mate looked a better option.

1516: Arsenal are showing few signs of recovery at Boro where they trail 2-0. It's been a bad day at the office for Arsene Wenger's side - it's a struggle to remember them being this ineffective.

1515: GOAL - LANDZAAT. Denny Landzaat draws Wigan level at Bolton. He was left alone on the edge of the box so when Emmerson Boyce's cross from the right was only half cleared he was on hand to sidefoot coolly home. 1-1.

1514: Steed Malbranque shoots wide for Spurs at White Hart Lane. The hosts have made the better start.

1513: Julio Arca comes on for Boro in place of Alidiere who seems to have run himself into the ground for the Boro cause today. He looks shattered.

1512: Just 10 minutes remain for Arsenal to save their 22-match unbeaten league run. They need two goals if they are going to do so.

1511: First good chance at Spurs sees Bent go clean through but he's denied by keeper Andreas Isaksson.

1510: Back at the Riverside, Bendtner's far-post header has to be touched over the bar by Turnbull, who hasn't had much to do today.

1509: It's all over in the Championship game between Stoke and Watford. It's finished goalless which means Watford now lead the table by two points. The Potters stay fifth.

1507: Arsenal are rocking and Sagna has to head behind with Downing threating at the back post.

1506: GOAL - TUNCAY. Boro go 2-0 up with the Turkish striker ramming the ball into the roof of the net. Rochemback's initial shot is saved by Almunia but the ball runs to Tuncay who finishes it off. Arsenal's unbeaten streak looks set to end.

1505: GOAL - SCHARNER OG. Bolton take the lead at the Reebok. A cross from the left is headed past his own keeper by Paul Scharner. A gift for the Trotters who lead 1-0.

1504: Into injury time at Stoke and it's still goalless.

1503: An early chance for Wigan at Bolton but Marcus Bent heads up and over the bar.

1502: Fuller gets another chance at Stoke. He's clean through but Lee again comes out to make a good save. The reserve keeper has been excellent today.

1501: Arsenal win a free kick wide on the right - a good chance to whip the ball into the danger area. Nothing comes of it though.

1500: The games at Spurs and Bolton are just kicking off.

1500: We're midway through the second half at the Riverside and Arsenal are still 1-0 down and staring at their first Premier League defeat of the season.

1458: Rosicky sends Adebayor down the left. The Czech continues his run into the box to receive the ball back from his team-mate but can't get a decent connection as he slides in alongside a Boro defender. Good move but no end product there from the visitors.

1457: Back at Stoke, the hosts' Fuller unlocks the Watford defence with a run down the left. However, when he gets into the box he knocks the ball past the on-rushing Lee only for a Watford defender to boot the ball clear as it runs towards goal.

1456: Nothing comes from that Boro corner, but they are still more than a match for Arsenal and remain 1-0 up.

1455: Aliadiere wins a corner for Boro at the Riverside. At Stoke, Watford stopper Lee has just made another good save to deny Richard Cresswell.

1453: Changes are made. Theo Walcott is on for Arsenal. Eboue goes off. In midfield Diarra is replaced by Denilson.

1452: Tuncay does well down the left and sends the ball across the edge of the penalty area. It's dummied by O'Neil, allowing Boateng to strike a shot just wide of goal. Great stuff from the hosts.

1451: Arsenal aren't looking very likely to equalise at the moment. It looks like they need to make more changes.

1449: Rochemback appears to have been booked for protesting after a foul by Boateng. The yellow cards are mounting at the Riverside, where it remains 1-0 to Boro.

1448: Elano is still missing for City so Kelvin Etuhu starts in midfield. However, Michael Johnson is back from injury. Darius Vassell looks set to start in attack on his own.

1447: With Robbie Keane banned, Darren Bent partners Dimitar Berbatov up front for Spurs today against Manchester City. Youns Kaboul is back in defence alongside Michael Dawson afer missing Thursday's draw with Anderlecht. That clash at White Hart Lane kicks off at 1500.

1446: David Wheater's blockbuster from outside the penalty area is well blocked by Toure's body.

1445: Clichy is the latest player to be booked at the Riverside. He checked O'Neil's run.

1444: From the Toure-conceded free kick, Boro's Rochemback drives into the Arsenal wall.

1444: Twenty minutes to go at Stoke and it remains goalless.

1443: Toure is booked for blocking Aliadiere's run. That looked a little harsh. A free kick would have been sufficient.

1442: Great chance for Tuncay to make it 2-0 goes begging. Rochemback plays a perfect ball through the Arsenal backline, leaving Tuncay with only the keeper to beat. He slips it wide of Almunia but also inches past the post.

1440: Rochemback's ambitious shot is easily blocked by Diarra.

1439: Arsenal's first attack of the half, down the left, ends with Boro clearing from inside their own box.

1438: Nicklas Bendtner is on for Arsenal in place of Eduardo at the start of the second half at Middlesbrough, where the visitors are looking to turn around a 1-0 deficit.

1432: Tommy Smith is inches away from a Watford goal at Stoke but he just sends his low strike wide of the post.

1426: Stoke are close to the opening goal at the Britannia. Mamady Sidibe cuts the ball back from the right for Fuller to shoot but Watford keeper Lee makes a fine save.

1421: Half time at the Riverside and Boro lead 1-0 thanks to Downing's fourth-minute penalty. Arsenal can't have been this bad for some time and they have 45 minutes to save their unbeaten start to the season. Credit to the hosts though. They have harassed the Gunners from the off and haven't just wanted to defend, as so many teams have done against them in the past.

1420: A good spell of possession for Arsenal, but twice they are halted by good challenges on the edge of the Boro box.

1419: Into injury time in the first half at the Riverside - there will be two added minutes.

1418: They are back under way at Stoke. Remember it was goalless at half time between the hosts and Watford.

1417: There are two games kicking off in the Premier League at 1500 and the team news is in from the one at the Reebok - Bolton v Wigan. The Trotters won with a scratch side at Red Star Belgrade on Thursday but their big names are back today, including Nicolas Anelka and El-Hadji Diouf. They are among nine changes. Wigan make just one change - Andreas Granqvist replacing suspended captain Mario Melchiot.

1416: Eboue wastes a free kick in a good position, overhitting it into the arms of Ross Turnbull.

1415: Corner to Boro. Arsenal struggle to deal with it but the ball is eventually knocked up and Almunia makes a good claim on his line.

1414: Tuncay threatens again but when he cuts inside he slices his shot way wide.

1413: Tuncay gets to the byline down the right butAlmunia is well positioned and dives on the low cross.

1412: Free kick this time to Boro around 30 yards from goal. Downing curls it but Almunia makes the save despite the ball bouncing awkwardly in front of him.

1411: Eboue floats the free kick to the far post where Adebayor makes a fantastic leap to get above Woodgate but then directs his header the wrong side of the upright. A good chance for the equaliser goes begging.

1410: Bacary Sagna is clipped in midfield by Rochemback who is spoken to by the ref.

1409: Aliadiere appears to have been hurt in that move, but after treatment to his ankle he's set to continue.

1408: Tuncay flicks on a long throw towards Alidaiere. He is blocked as he tries to shoot and from the follow-up Rochemback blasts high and wide.

1407: Toure gets to the byline down the left but Luke Young defends it well.

1406: Free kick to Arsenal 30 yards out. Again it's Toure but this effort is thumped into the wall which does it's job.

1405: Emmanuel Adebayor gets into a good position in the box but then tries to find Eduardo. The pass is poor though. The Togolese may have been better going for goal.

1404: The half-time whistle has just gone at Stoke where it's goalless between the hosts and Championship leaders Watford.

1403: That corner is also dealt with and it remains Boro 1 Arsenal 0.

1402: Arsenal win their first corner of the game. O'Neil clears but it's soon another flag kick with Jonathan Woodgate heading Clichy's cross behind.

1401: O'Neil needlessly trips Rosicky in midfield and earns the game's first yellow card.

1400: A great tackle from Toure on the edge of his own box ends Downing's pacy run.

1359: O'Neil heads over and onto the roof of Almunia's net at the Riverside.

1357: This has been poor so far from Arsenal. Rarely are they this ineffective. They trail Boro 1-0 courtesy of Downing's early penalty. It remains 0-0 at Stoke v Watford.

1356: Tomas Rosicky gets in Arsenal's first real shot. However, his 20-yard right-foot effort drifts wide of the post.

1355: Boro try to play their way through the Arsenal defence but come up short.

1353: Eboue wants a free kick on the edge of the Boro box but the ref waves play on.

1352: Where's the flowing football we associate with Arsenal? It's not been in evidence so far. In fact, Boro have probably had more of the ball - something that's usually unheard of when Arsenal are playing.

1351: Downing overhits his latest cross from the left. O'Neil chases the ball and sends it back in from the right towards Aliadiere. However, Toure turns it behind from a corner.

1349: Boro break well through Aliadiere down the right. The ball is played in field and ends at the feet of Rochemback who fires a wild effort way off target. That was poor but it's been a good start from Boro, who remain 1-0 to the good.

1348: Gilberto Silva fouls George Boateng but complains for some reason. It was definitely a foul. Arsenal only half-clear the free kick into the box and Almunia eventually claims the ball after Toure's clearance comes back off Aliadiere.

1347: Eduardo da Silva looks to have won a corner but Howard Webb says goal kick. Poor decision.

1346: Back at the Riverside, where Boro lead 1-0 in the early stages, and William Gallas needs treatment after being caught in an aerial sandwich. It looks like he will be OK though.

1345: Another King effort - this one is deflected just wide as Watford look for the breakthrough. It remains 0-0.

1344: Stoke havehad more of the game at the Britannia Stadium but Watford's Marlon King has just missed with a good shooting chance, dragging his shot wide of goal.

1343: Eboue rolls the ball to Toure but his shot is charged down.

1342: Free kick to Arsenal about 35 yards out. A possible shooting opportunity.

1341: Emmanuel Eboue pushes Emanuel Pogatetz in the face as he challenges for the ball - but the referee takes no action. Liam Miller did something not dissimilar yesterday and was sent off. The Ivory Coast defender is lucky there.

1340: Tuncay has a shot charged down by Toure as Boro press again.

1339: Initially it looked a harsh penalty award. But the replays show Toure's challenge didn't win the ball and a penalty was the right decision. Perhaps the question really should be did Toure really need to dive in with Aliadiere heading away from goal?
