Gradi: Appointment is imminent

Wed 10 Dec, 03:30 PM

Crewe caretaker boss Dario Gradi has admitted that the club could appoint a new manager to replace Steve Holland next week.Alex legend Gradi has been in temporary charge since Holland was sacked last month following the club's wretched start to their League One campaign.

Former Stoke manager Gudjon Thordarson has publicly expressed his interest in the job while Burton boss Nigel Clough and John Ward, recently dismissed by Carlisle, have also been linked with the post.

Gradi is set to meet with the club's board of directors to draw up a list of candidates for interview and expects the new man to be at the helm soon.

"It is on-going. While I can't envisage anyone coming in before Saturday, I don't know about the following week," Gradi told the Sentinel.

"I am talking to people just like (chairman) John Bowler and our other directors. John has drawn up criteria of who fits the bill and the next stage is to see who we are going to interview."
