Rochdale have handed defender Scott Wiseman a new deal which will keep him at Spotland until at least the end of the current campaign.Wiseman agreed an initial six-month contract with Dale in the summer following his departure from League Two rivals Darlington.

And he has shown enough quality to persuade boss Keith Hill to extend his stay with the promotion-chasing Lancashire outfit.

Hill said: "He has definitely deserved it and possibly deserved longer but it is important that he continues to prove himself."

Wiseman added: "The gaffer has told me to keep proving myself and that is what I intend to do."
