Premier League - Milan deny Agger statement

Eurosport - Wed, 10 Dec 18:17:00 2008

Adriano Galliani has denied saying that Milan are keeping tabs on Liverpool defender Daniel Agger.

FOOTBALL Liverpool Agger - 0

"With regard to the alleged phrases Adriano Galliani issued to the press in Denmark, and reported by several Italian outlets, the Rossoneri's CEO denies that he has ever issued any statement," Milan said on their website.

Agger has been in good form this season after a difficult start to life at Liverpool, who he joined in 2006.

The 23-year-old has not yet signed a new contract and newspaper reports linked him with a January move to Milan.

"We are going to sign a new defender in January, there's is no doubt about that," Milan vice-president Galliani was originally quoted as saying by Denmark's tipsbladet.dk.

"We have kept a frequent eye on Agger and his situation at Liverpool and have of course noticed the problems that Agger and Liverpool have on agreeing on a new contract.

"We have a list of three or four names that could be used in the defence. Agger is one of those names.

"We will for sure make a bid for one of them in January."

Milan were rumored to be considering a bid of 7.5 million euros (£6.6m) for Agger.

  4. re(10): Yea, I have a lot of trouble believing Agger would go anywhere, especially so cheaply. Skrtel is good, but still crocked. Hyypia's got to be on the way out in the next year or two at the most, and Carra's no spring chicken. What other option does LFC have at center back if they sell Agger? He seems to me the natural choice to take over the defense when Carra retires, and the Agger/Skrtel partnership is something I'd be interested in seeing. Don't let him go unless you plan on finding a replacement of equal skill -- certainly not going to happen for £6.6 mil.

  5. Agger is going nowhere because EPL is for his style of playing and he is danish so he must stay in the north where he belongs. Why should he go in a weaker championship?
PS And don't tell me that Seria A is stronger , who things this way is a stupid person

  6. As a LFC life long supporter I'd be disappointed to see him go. He's a top quality defender with loads of potential, as he's only 23 at the mo. The point of note here is, if the rumours are even remotely true, and the alledged price tag is fairly accurate, then someone is clearly having a laugh. If Rio Ferdinand is worth £29,000,000 then I'd say D Agger is worth a tad more than £6.600,000. If anyone doesn't agree, please explain, and lets not be silly about it. Only valid points. No Man U fans being silly. I'm not saying which of the two are better. I'd say as far as football goes, with Ferdinands age and experience, he'd get the nod, but £29 versus £6.6 Mil. Someone's joking, right????

To the Reds board....... Don't sell such quality that cheaply. Be smart!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Well maybe Platini and blatter will make him join Bate or Ciuj or even Shaktar to balance the Champions League

  8. dats what we fans are talking about,we need a permanent and long term solution to our porous defence.Galliani should better be serious about it.
Agger (liverpool) and Skrtel (liverpool) are good players but I'll prefer Mexes (Roma)
come end of 2008/09 season,y'all see Milan winning scudetto.
