Olympic silver medallist Thomas Florschutz steered home to his first season victory in the FIBT Two-Man Bobsleigh World Cup in La Plagne, France, with teammate Kevin Kuske.

The German pairing narrowly edged American rivals Steven Holcomb and Steve Langton into second with a combined time of 1:58.50 minutes.

Florschutz now leads the overall standings with 435 points, ten ahead of Switzerland’s Beat Hefti and 25 ahead of Holcomb.

Hefti and teammate Thomas Lamparter finished third in 1:58.91 minutes ahead of another German pairing Maximilian Arndt and Martin Putze in fourth.

Britain’s sole representatives John James Jackson and Stuart Benson finished a disappointing 14th with a combined time of 2:00.19.
