Alnwick in line for Foxes debut

Fri 11 Jan, 11:45 AM

Ben Alnwick will make his debut against Coventry, while Foxes captain Stephen Clemence is available after suspension for the Midlands derby.Alnwick, who joined the club from Tottenham, was one of three loan signings made by Ian Holloway this week along with Hungarian wingers Zsolt Laczko and Gabor Bori.

Alnwick will replace Paul Henderson while Laczko and Bori must wait to see if they are handed debuts.

Midfielder Clemence missed the FA Cup defeat at Southampton as he served a one-match ban after he collected his fifth yellow card of the season against Ipswich on Boxing Day.

Barry Hayles and Steve Howard, who joined the club on January 1 and have played in the subsequent games at QPR and Southampton, are set to make their home debuts.

Fellow striker Collins John remains sidelined with a hamstring injury while Darren Kenton has joined Leeds on a month's loan.

Iain Dowie admits it will be difficult to tinker with his side for the trip to Leicester following the FA Cup win at Blackburn.

However, Dowie will be forced into one change as captain Michael Doyle is suspended after the midfielder collected his fifth yellow card of the season in the 4-1 triumph at Ewood Park.

"He will be a big miss for us, and Michael himself will be disappointed but he will be back next week," said Dowie. "He has played 26 or 27 games so far this season so to pick up five bookings is not the worst tally.

"It will be difficult to make too many changes after last week but Kevin Thornton will be pushing for a start and Julian Gray will be available after illness, so there are options."

Chris Birchall has also recovered from illness but Stephen Hughes (leg) and Andy Marshall (back) are very doubtful.
