Newcastle United are preparing a whopping £25 million bid for Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp - helicopters included.
In addition to an unprecedented £100,000 per week, four-year deal, Redknapp would cost Toon a further £3 million to pay-off Pompey, while the package would also have to include private jet or chopper to take the former West Ham boss to-and-from the North East and his beloved South Coast.
But Redknapp has repeatedly insisted that he is settled at Pompey, who he took from Championship wasters to a solid top-half Premier League side via a short spell at Southampton, and has made it clear that money would not be a factor if he would leave the club which he said last year would be his last in football.
It's a lot of cash though - and surely the last chance Harry and his dogs will be offered to have a go at a big club with big ambitions.
I want to see Klas-Jan Huntelaar in the Premier League. I really do. He scores loads of goals in the Netherlands - almost one a game - and before you say "Mateja Kezman! Dirk Kuyt!", remember that those two are pretty good at everything but not exceptional at one thing, whereas like Ruud van Nistelrooy, Huntelaar can finish. Well, he can in the latest edition of Football Manager, where he fired my Pompey side to the Champions League with 38 goals in all competitions.
And I want to be proved right. Sick of Louis Saha's constant ailments and following the post transfer deadline retirement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Manchester United are supposedly preparing a £12 million bid to prize him away from cash-strapped Ajax . To get the best out of him they really need to buy Ivan Alonso though. Seriously, they work really well together. Although now Ever Banega's gone to Valencia for £12 million (ha! I only paid 2.5) they'll have to scout the Portuguese league for a regenerated Rui Costa to provide the ammo. Sigh.
Down south, meanwhile, Spurs fans will be raising an eyebrow as their former striker Fredi Kanoute touts himself for a move back to the 'Lane.
"At the moment I am happy in Spain but if Tottenham offer me a great opportunity then I would consider it. Let's wait and see," Kanoute said.
The Lyon-born ex West Ham hitman had his moments during a two year spell at Spurs but his career at the club was effectively over when, arriving at the club as a Frenchman, he opted to represent ancestral nation Mali and miss extended periods due to international duty. But followers of La Liga will know that the Sevilla star is an entirely different proposition these days with an old-fashioned centre forward's strike-rate of more than a goal every other game.
"I've probably improved since I went to Spain but I feel there are parts of my game that can get better - I have scored more goals in Spain than I did in England."
Fulham's coachload of fans were hoping that well-travelled new boss Roy Hodgson would bring some much-needed continental influence to ormer boss Lawrie Sanchez' long-ball merchants.
But they will be choking on their morning tea at the news that, following his failed attempt to spend £4 million on the drinking man's Zlatan (Marlon King) the former Inter and Finland coach wants to bring a couple of big lads to the Cottage.
"The imbalance in the team comes from the lack of size," he (correctly) argued. "A lot of our players are of a similar height and not very tall, so stature will be a factor for us when we look at new players."
He has a point - if you're going to play long ball, don't hoof it up to David Healy (5"8).
Aston Villa are pleading ignorance to claims that defender Olof Mellberg flew to Turn for a guided tour of the Stadio Delle Alpi earlier this week.
"Olof going to Turin or anywhere is news to us at Aston Villa," the club said in a terse statement.
Mellberg's contract is up in the summer and, after seven years in Birmingham, who would blame him for wanting a move to Italy?
The wonderfully-named Brazilian midfielder Dudu wants to come to England following CSKA Moscow's failure to qualify for the Champions League.
"I will inform my club that I want to leave Russia and it could be any type of possible move - transfer or loan," he said. "I want a new challenge. Next season CSKA won't play so much in Europe due to our poor finish and it will affect my international career.
"I have many offers from England, Italy, France and Brazil."
He'd better be good
