PWRC: Flodin secures wild card slot.

SYMS World Rally Team to run local star.

Patrik Flodin will take in the Swedish Rally this weekend, having secured a 'wild card' entry for the opening round in the 2008 FIA Production Car World Rally Championship.

Flodin, who will compete with the SYMS World Rally Team, tested the outfits new Group N Subaru Impreza recently and was delighted by the initial results.

"From what I can see of the team and the car so far, it is very good and extremely professional," said the 23 year-old. "Obviously SYMS has very close links to the Subaru factory, so I think that we can be competitive enough the challenge for the Group N victory in Sweden."

Furthomore despite his experience on his home round of the WRC - this will be his third attempt, having taken his best result last year, when he was eleventh overall in a Subaru Impreza WRC - Flodin is taking nothing for granted.

"As this is the opening round of the PWRC, there will be very many quick drivers this year," he continued. "I'm feeling quite confident, but I know that people like Juho Hanninen and Jari Ketomaa will also be very quick, as they have a lot of experience on snow rallies.

"Beating them won't be easy. I've also got a new co-driver, Goran Bergsten, so there's a lot to get used to!"

Currently Flodin's collaboration with the SYMS World Rally Team is a one-off, but the Swede is trying to raise a budget to compete on some other WRC rounds later on this year.
