Ole Einar Bjoerndalen picked up the 10th World Championship gold of his career at Ostersund in the men's pursuit, while Andrea Henkel won her second gold of the week in the women's race.
The Norwegian master secured victory by 10.1 seconds over Russia's Maxim Tchoudov in a race where the pair exchanged the lead on a couple of occasions.
Tchoudov started the race 30 seconds ahead of Bjoerndalen after winning the sprint race but lost his lead with two shooting misses at the first range.
He regained the initiative when Bjoerndalen missed his first shot at the next range but two misses at the first standing session from Tchoudov would eventually prove to be his downfall.
Bjoerndalen had two misses in total but he was still able to pick up the gold and he is now just one victory short of the all-time World Championship record holder Germany's Frank Luck who won 11 golds.
Alexander Wolf became the first German man to win a medal this year as he picked up the bronze with Dmitri Yaroshenko and Simon Fourcade completing the top five.
Norway's Halvard Hanevold started in second but despite only missing two shots he could only manage an eighth placed finish.
In the women's race, Henkel started the race 13 seconds ahead of Albina Akhatova after her victory in the sprint race and was a perfect 20 for 20 at the shooting range as she led from start to finish.
Akhatova also didn't miss a shot but she had to settle for bronze with Ekaterina Iourieva moving up from sixth to second with another perfect shooing performance.
Henkel complete the course in 28:56.0 to finish 20.5 seconds ahead of Iourieva and 38.5 seconds in front of Akhatova.
After the top three, came a host of big names: Tora Berger was fourth, Sandrine Bailly fifth, Magdalena Neuner sixth, and Martina Glagow was seventh.
Kati Wilhelm had another erratic day with the rifle (four misses) and had to settle for 13th.
It is the second successive year that Henkel has won two golds at the World Championships, last year in Antholz-Anterselva she was victorious in the 12.5km mass start, and the 4 x 6km relay.
